This May, Teichert Construction was recognized by the Operating Engineers Local 3 Apprenticeship program as the 2014 Contractor of the Year at the Union’s annual Apprenticeship Completion Ceremony. This ceremony honors the Apprentices who have fulfilled their apprenticeship requirements and have reached the status of Journeyman. A number of past and present Teichert employees were recognized at the ceremony, notably Gary Alarid. Gary spent his entire Apprenticeship at Teichert and was honored with the Apprentice of the Year award.
Teichert’s success relies on having safe, productive, skilled leaders throughout our workforce. Our Apprenticeship program is designed to help develop those leaders by supporting entry-level workers as they learn their craft from our capable long-term employees. Apprentices are typically exposed to more than one skillset, and have more than one experienced mentor in the course of their time with Teichert.
Gary’s award and Teichert’s award are a reflection of the steady and high-quality efforts made by people throughout the Construction Field Operations group, from Apprentices to Foremen to Dispatchers and Superintendents. These efforts not only help to develop people within Teichert, but benefit our entire Industry by supporting and spotlighting the importance of developing new entrants into the Construction workforce. The one thing that is constant in our ever changing Industry is the people: it is the people that have sustained our great Company and will continue to sustain Teichert well into the future. Hats off to our Field Operations group for their efforts. We look forward to continued success with our Apprentice program during the 2015 construction season.
