Where Safety Is a Way of Life

Teichert Wins AGC of California Construction Safety Excellence Award

Teichert Construction has been awarded a 2026 Construction Safety Excellence Award (CSEA) from the Associated General Contractors (AGC) of California in the Heavy Civil/Highway Division for the Over 1.5 Million Worker Hours category. The award was presented at the 39th Annual CSEA Luncheon during the CONSTRUCT Conference and recognizes California contractors for the strength of their safety programs, not just their numbers.

If there were a Super Bowl of safety for California contractors, this would be it. Applicants submit detailed information about their safety programs, then the top companies in each category sit down with a panel of judges for a live, in-person interview. Judges look at how a company identifies and engineers out risk, trains its people, manages subcontractors, and involves leadership and the workforce. Then the judges dig in and ask the tough questions about how the program works in the field.

The numbers matter, and we’re proud of ours. Teichert closed 2025 with a recordable incident rate of 0.47 across more than 2.1 million employee hours. But the numbers only tell part of the story. They reflect the people behind them. From the mountain corridor of I-80 at Kingvale to a narrow work platform at the base of a cliff on Highway 1 in Big Sur to an active airfield at San Jose International, our crews work in some of the most demanding environments in California. They speak up, stop work when conditions change, look out for the person beside them, and help develop the training their own crews receive. They make safety more than a talking point at Teichert. They make it a way of life.

We’re honored to stand alongside the other winners and congratulate each of them. Raising the bar for safety in California is work we all share, and it’s a privilege to be recognized among contractors who care about sending everyone home safe, every day.

Congratulations to the entire Teichert team, and thank you for everything you do to make this possible.
