Employee Spotlight: Hilbert Silva
Hilbert Silva's career at Teichert is a story that started as a summer internship in Turlock in 2002 and grew, over more than two decades, into a role as Area Manager for Teichert Construction's Fresno office.
Hilbert came in as a Project Engineer and hit the ground running, closing out subdivision punch lists, cutting his teeth on his first Caltrans project, and rotating through grading, underground, and public works alongside some of the most respected people in the company. Early mentors like Clark Hulbert and John Thomassen shaped the way he thought about the work. JT, as he was known, once stopped Hilbert on a jobsite and asked him point blank whether the crew was making money that day. Hilbert didn't have an answer. He never let that happen again. Later, working alongside Bart Krieger, Hilbert found the mentor who would influence him most, learning not just how to manage projects but how to lead people with honesty and genuine care. By 2009 he had earned his promotion to Project Manager, and he has continued building from there ever since.
What started as a convenient summer job close to home turned into something Hilbert never expected to find in a workplace. The relationships he built in those early Turlock years have lasted his entire career, and he'll tell you that's not an accident. It reflects the kind of people Teichert attracts and the culture they sustain together. For anyone considering a career here, his message is straightforward: come in humble, genuine, and willing to work, and you will find mentors who invest in you, colleagues who become friends, and more opportunity than you can imagine.
