Building a Better Path

Teichert Construction Tapped to Lead Landmark Fish Passage Project on the Yuba River

Teichert Construction is proud to have been selected to build the Nature-like Fishway around Daguerre Point Dam on the lower Yuba River, a landmark multi-benefit project developed through the collaboration of Yuba Water Agency, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, and the National Marine Fisheries Service. The fishway is a channel designed to resemble a natural river, enabling salmon, steelhead, sturgeon, and lamprey to navigate around the dam and access more than 10 miles of healthy, cool-water spawning habitat. Beyond restoring safe fish passage, the project includes a modernized water diversion that will protect fish while ensuring irrigators continue to have access to the surface water needed to sustain South Yuba County’s agricultural economy. Teichert’s involvement begins with an initial $1.42 million phase supporting final design and pre-construction services, with the team brought on under a construction manager at-risk delivery method, an approach that integrates the construction manager during design to help plan the project, coordinate contractors, and propose a guaranteed maximum price, reducing costs while improving efficiency. We look forward to bringing our expertise to a project that delivers lasting value for both the region’s fisheries and its agricultural community.
