The Teichert Branch of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Sacramento opened its doors in January of 2004 to hundreds of eager children in South Sacramento.

Located on Lemon Hill Avenue off Stockton Boulevard near Fruitridge Road, the club welcomes 400+ children each day to study, play games, create art projects, and make new friends in a positive environment.

Complete with an arts and crafts room, computer lab, quiet study areas, TV room, café, dining hall, full-size gymnasium, game room, a health and life skills room, and a soccer field, the 32,000 square foot facility sits on 4.5 acres.

Students using the club must first complete 60-90 minutes of studying prior to socializing or playing.

In addition to Teichert's Foundation's initial $1 million capital investment, the Foundation has pledged to match community contributions up to $175,000 per year for the first five years of the club's operations.

The club is open 2:30pm-8pm, Monday through Friday, and there are plans to have activities for teens on Friday nights after the standard 8pm closing time. Summer hours are 10am-6pm, Monday through Friday. Any child between ages 6-18 may join for $12 for the entire school year and $50 for the summer session. A healthy, hot meal is served daily.

The fees do not cover costs, so the club is dependent on community support from citizens, businesses, and other organizations.

In addition to Teichert's Foundation's initial $1 million capital investment, the Foundation has pledged to match community contributions up to $175,000 per year for the first five years of the club's operations. Other major contributors of funding and in-kind services to the Teichert Branch include:

  • Gencorp Foundation
  • Wells Fargo Foundation
  • California Youth Authority
  • California State Department of Parks and Recreation
  • Panattoni Construction

The Boys & Girls Club of Greater Sacramento also operates the Thomas P. Raley Branch in the Alkali Flats neighborhood in downtown Sacramento. Club programs are also offered in the New Helvetia neighborhood off Broadway near downtown.
